Like many towns on the Shore, the rise and eventual fall of the railroad lead to periods of population and economic growth and later retraction. Today, Bloxom is a quaint town with many lifelong residents that call this peaceful community home.

Old SR (State Route) 316  or Baysdrive Drive runs through the heart of Bloxom. This 10-mile-long highway parallels the defunct railroad lines and connects Accomac County towns of Parksley, Bloxom, Onley, Onancock, and Hallwood.

If you are traveling north, SR316 turns into SR779 as you leave Bloxom. It continues as SR779 until you reach the town of Hallwood. At this point, it turns into SR693.

You can ride this road to Bullbegger Rd, near Pitts Wharf landing, a couple of miles shy of the MD/VA state line.

If you enjoy driving the backroads, this good alternative to traveling on US13.
